I am not sure what you mean by dont worry. For me personally paying $4000 out of pocket under my current circumstances is a lot. I agree,the PD may not become current soon unless something weird happens. But I am pointing out the fact that it is not a simple decision for most especially where companies or families with resource limitations are involved.
I really dont see how people are treating this 'holding' as a sign of good things to come. It may be, but the probability is very small. This move is more to fortify their moves by screwing us more.

One of the approaches can be for state chapters to be involved and solicit donations from local members. I liked the idea for donations from immigrants who have already obtained green cards and online ADS from google as long as we do not overdo it. I am leaning more towards funding drives. For reasons that people in the process understand better than I do, I agree that the amounts cannot be disclosed. Hence it would be nice to have offline discussions or discussions on PMs on targets between state chapter members.
I for one am not for monthly payments or memberships. That just makes for exclusive organization and we want to be more inclusive.
I also had another important question we need to ask ourselves. Do we want to solicit funding or donations or participation? They are two very different things. Participation is not limited to monetary involvement but can include time and ability (designing banners, websites, writing letters et al.) donation.

Salient features of Bill: S.1085
After analyzing this bill, I found the following:
1. This bill will recapture all those unused employment based visas (gcs) from 1997 till 2008 and it will add those recaptured visas to this year's employment based quota.
2. After the passage of this bill, any unused visas will rollover to the next year. So, no more wastage of visas as we go forward.
3. Per country limit will be increased from 7% to 10%, so more folks from over subscribed countries would be able to come under the normal yearly quota.
4. We will be able to avail the benefits of the recapture after 60 days of the passage of the bill. That means, if they are able to recapture 220,000 (approx) employment based visas, the employment based category will be able to use all those after 60 days of the passage of this bill. USCIS is pre-adjudicating all I485s pending and if this bill gets passed in say for eg by October 30, almost all (80%) in this community (who filed 485) would be able get their GCs in Jan and Feb of 2010.
What makes this bill much more interesting is:
1. This is not a bill targetting the issues of Employment based category - So there won't be a huge backlash against this in the name of the economy and recession. The provisions for the employment category are just one item in this bill.
2. Family based immigration reform has a wider range of support from all kinds of groups unlike Employment based immigration reform. Just search for this bill "Reuniting Families Act" in google news and you can identify all those organizations supporting this bill (they all have a news release).

There have been a lot of updates sent out via the verified state chapter mailing lists. If you are not part of any state chapter please check this page http://immigrationvoice.org/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=72&Itemid=52 and if there is no state chapter for your state, you can request to become member of a neighboring state chapter.

I know the post was entirely wrong and foolish.
But I feel that I am in the dark about IV activities for the past one year.
I am one of the silent IV Supporters and long time (from the beginning) monthly contributing IV Member.
It would be better to have a special thread/monthly bulleting page from IV to tell the members to know about IV activities or progress.
After the last year July fiasco issue I have not seen any posting about IV activities on the web site other than lot of threads and could not able to figure out the work IV is exactly doing.
I strongly believe because of IV core team only we were able to come through successful in July 2007 Bulletin issue. But do not know what else is IV doing for the past 12 months.
The Flowers, Letters and Phone Calls is not working as we expect. I do not know about other activities other than sending letters and phones during every congress session.
I believe IV need to do some thing different. There is no media reports about legal immigration issue (not for IV) for the past one year.
My perspective is that we need to find a way that Media and Public will aware of the issues we face every day.
I am not questioning the IV Core Team. It would be great if the IV members know some details about IV activities every month in a bulletin or thread etc.

After talking to my lawyer, I have decided to forego my H1B renewal and instead move to EAD. This allows me the flexibility to move to better roles with my current employer, as well as other employers.
As has been mentioned on some other threads, the most common reasons for your I-485 denial (fraud, out of status, communicable disease, criminal or felon etc.) would probably also mean that you are ineligible for an H1B too. As long as you are confident that you do not fall into any of these categories, the risk is very minimal.

I was able to talk to IO in TSC. Very nice IO (male). He really took time to look into my case.
First he said my case is preadj. , Than he mentioned my I-140 is under EB3 as per computer records.
I told him, i have the copy of my approved I-140 and it is under EB 2 category. he put me on hold for like 4-5 minutes. Came back and said he has passed on the info to IO looking into my case . He asked me for Reciept,alien # ets. on my I-140 BUT God Darn it, i didint have the document with me at that time. He said, i could call, ad give it to IO . I was so MAD!!!
After 30 minutes of searching, i found my approved I140 from 2006.
I called POJ method Less than 2 minutes i spoke to IO ....they dont disclose the name.
I explained my situation again and gave him all the info .He even asked my contact phone no.
i gave it to him.
I dont know , what to do next. Do you think they really pass in the info to IO reviewing the case?
Should i call on Monday.
Man! this weekend will be a GRIND!
I wish , i had the I140 handy.

In the interests of fairness, you should also air the counter-views while providing coverage to such strong one-sided views. This would provide a balanced coverage to your viewers.
In the absence of such unbiased coverage, Mr. Dobbs verbal attacks may provoke physical attacks against foreigners as well as any foreign-looking persons by misguided elements provoked by your show.
