Lets treat good news for EB2 as good news for EB3 also.
If not today, some of us EB3 folks may want to port. So it will help more people to port and also to compensate to some extent the #s coming into EB2 pool from EB3.
Overall its a good news, and looks to be possible we see this on Murthy site also. Lets be happy.
Hoping for the best. Can't see waiting for another half a decade to get our GC.
In 6 months?!?! May be toooo optimistic!
At least EB2 comrades are enjoying the news at least after quite sometime!!!

You named a few: Pappu, Aman, Jay. Who are these guys?
Other than Pappu I dont see the other two or any others actively participating. Who are they and where are they?
Thanks folks for your wishes. I had not been active on the volunteering side due to multiple reasons and other day to day challenges and career.
I agree with a lot of people in the community that it is a challenge to balance a challenging personal life, especially in a country like America where regular day to day life poses many challenges.
In the green card process, the challenge is just not about one needing a job to fulfill day to day needs but to secure a future for him/her and family.
A lot of people I have come across through IV have been absolutely amazing in stepping up and doing what they do and this platform provided by IV (Aman, Pappu, Jay etc..) has been a blessing for all of us.
I have written to IV core that I will continue to support IV and its activities.

01/24/2006: Senate May Table Comprehensive Immigration Reform Bills As Early As February 2, Thursday
Unconfirmed sources indicate that the Senate may table this bill earlier than expected. Since there is the nightmarish Sensenbrenner border protection bill that will come up with the comprehensive immigration reform legislation, it appears that the pro-immigration forces may have to energize their forces and start working on the critical immigration legislation.

As it has been 85 days since my 485 reached in NSC and updates, so I called the 800-375-3283 and transfered to IO, she was very polite and told that now they are taking 120 days to issue receipts. ( ware...waa...how fast service)
As CAA dude post a 800-246-8253 this is Custom #. (lol)
So they started to say now all we have to wait for another 30 days, there is no other way to get the receipt #, she said call once in a week if u are lucky, u may get ur receipt #,
yes sending fax, e-mails, create a query this make sence to invistigate the pending application.
Ok again ur count down starts against 120 days..........

Here is the response I got from my Senator in TX. Looks like atleast this senator is aware of what's going on. Is there anyway the leaders at immigrationvoice.org could arrange a meeting with him in Washington to see if he can influence our cause.
Dear Dr. XXXXX:
I regret that my reply to your letter has been delayed. I strive to respond to each constituent in a timely fashion, but a technical error in an e-mail system used by the Senate prevented my reply from reaching you before today. The input that you and other Texans provide is valuable to me, and I appreciate the opportunity to respond without further delay.
Thank you for contacting me about delays in securing immigration visas. I appreciate having the benefit of your comments on this matter.
In the wake of customer complaints and concerns voiced by elected officials, U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) has informed my office that it is committed to ensuring six-month processing times for all applications and petitions by the close of 2006. Though the USCIS security check process is time consuming, USCIS reforms will not compromise national security in any way. USCIS officials reported recently that streamlining efforts, together with additional resources from Congress, have enabled it to reduce the backlog for many applications. Officials are confident they will achieve their goal for all applications. I applaud this commitment to customer service and look forward to a time when all who seek to visit or immigrate to America receive a prompt decision.
It has also come to my attention that once USCIS approves a petition, many individuals must wait lengthy periods of time because of visa shortages. I recently voted to support a measure that would recapture unused visas from prior years a move which would reduce the overall waiting period for visas. I will also continue to advocate for additional opportunities for legal immigration. Our immigration laws must not favor illegal immigration, but must instead reward those who comply with the rule of law.
I appreciate having the opportunity to represent Texans in the United States Senate. Thank you for taking the time to contact me.
Sincerely,
XXXXXXXXXXX

How come there is pending cases in 2007, 2008 and 2009 for EB2 and EB3 India?
From the PDF I see the following
EB2
2007 after july fiasco - 559
2008 - 178
2009 - 9
EB3
2007 after july fiasco - 466
2008 - 88
2009 - 5
My understanding is that the visa bulletin were never open for priorty dates from Aug 2007 to till date....EVER..
I may be missing something..
I think it is because of cross chargeability. If your spouse's country of birth is not India then you can get charged to your spouses birth country. And therefore can apply for 485 when your spouse's PD is current even when your PD is not current.

Dear Mr. XXX,
Pursuant to our conversation today, I am forwarding the reply from the Nebraska Service Center of the U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (CIS) regarding our inquiry into your application for Adjustment of Status (I-485).
Our office initiated an inquiry into your case as a result of your correspondence dated September 12, 2007 sent to Congresswoman Maxine Waters. If you receive or do not receive a notice of action from CIS within the next 30 days please notify our Immigration Caseworker, Blanca Jimenez at ext. 18.
Thank you for contacting the office of Congresswoman Maxine Waters to assist you in this matter.
Sincerely,

Good Morning Ms. Jimenez,
I do not show that we have data-entered Mr. XXXs I-485 yet. The I-485 must be in line to be data-entered because we receipted an I-765 (LIN-07-245-XXXX).
The I485 application is still pending at this office. Although the Department of State Visa Bulletin indicated visas were available for most employment categories USCIS still has to adjudicate every application. NSC has approximately 26,000 I485 applications that may have a visa available and we are reviewing them as expeditiously as possible. This application is in line to be worked but it will take time. Please allow an additional 45 days for NSC to adjudicate the application. If you have not received a notice from NSC after 45 days you may submit another inquiry.
Thank you,

I send my I-485 AOS application to USCIS and received on July 2nd 2007 at Nebraska Service Center, Lincoln, NE.
It's almost approx 75 days since the application received at USCIS and have not received the Receipt Notice or any notification from USCIS.
I tried to contact Customer Service at USCIS. They don't provided any information. USCIS website updates show they are processing 08/01 or later for AOS application. They are not following the First In First Out(FIFO) order.
I need help of your good to know the status of my I-485 application.

Vonage was just responding to the competition.
Lingo has a world plan which included unlimited calling to 30 countries( India not included)
India calls were just 2 cents per minute. I switched to Lingo from Vonage 2 months back. Sensing this mass exodus, vonage came up with an even more aggressive plan.
Competition is good !
How is your experience with Lingo customer service. Last year, I tried to switch to Lingo and the lady at customer service is very rude. She is so tired to answer questions and asked me to get all from website. I stopped switching to them.

hey walden
for some reason, the pdf file is not opening....I will do the flyer posting wherever I can.....We should also probably write up a mail that can be mass mailed to recruit the many who are affected or may potentially be affcted by this issue, or whose loved ones are affected. We should also do a smart media camapaign- even try to draw attention of network programs like 20/20 or 60 minutes that have a mass impact- to the really tragic situation many ppl are in (esp. one case from the last board comes to mind- of course we have to be ultra-sensitive about privacy and other sensitivities of the individuals involved).....getting the attention of the major networks may not be as far fetched as it seems- much less worthy causes have been championed by these programs.....if we articulate it well to the producers involved, with the right mix of facts and the personal, I believe many will consider it seriously, even though immigration is a complex issue to many....like i said we shd not underestimate the american sense of fairness, and we have a very good cause where we need some of it.....it will appear dreadfully unfair to many that people who have been paying social security taxes for 5-10 years are not even allowed the security of knowing whether they themselves will be eligible for it when they need it! That notion will give a jolt to most unbiased americans who typically associate immigration with people sponging off the system
